The Friday Five

I couldn’t pass these up, being a car nut and all!

1. Do you have a car? If so, what kind of car is it?
1988 Nissan 300ZX. She’s a bright blue, fully-loaded, two-seater NA (in the world of the Z, that is shorthand for Normally Aspirated or Non-Turbo engine).

2. Do you drive very often?
I commute to work, unless I’m running really late and have an extra $15 to blow on a day’s parking. I put most of the miles on my car on road trips. I had to drive her back home from Laguna Niguel, California when I bought her last year. Since that time, I’ve made a couple of trips to my brother’s place on Lake Medina.

3. What’s your dream car?
I’m already driving it! Well, besides that, the only other thing is the 2003 Hummer H2.

4. Have you ever received a ticket?.
Technically, no. I was pulled over in San Antonio when I was about 20, but I cried, so the officer let me go with a warning.

5. Have you ever been in an accident?
Years ago, when I was about 8 years old. I was riding with my mom in our huge, honking 1968 Dodge Phoenix. I was in the front seat, but she asked me to climb over into the back seat to get the newspaper out so she could check an address. I found the paper and read the address to her. When she asked me if I wanted to get back in the front seat with her, for some inexplicable reason, I said “no.” This is not like me. The next intersection, we were broadsided on the passenger side by a speeding truck. The car spun around a couple of times and ended up striking a telephone pole, and it ended up facing in the direction we were coming from. The officers who arrived on the scene said that had I been in the front seat I would have definitely been seriously injured, possibly killed. I have no explanation for my decision to remain in the back seat.
