Paying the Cost of Being the Boss

Today, October 16, is Boss’s Day. Er, excuse me, National Boss’s Day. The day set aside for support staff to honor Da Boss. To help you along, here’s some words you should familiarize yourself with:

hap-py adj. hap-pi-er, hap-pi-est. 1. Enjoying, showing, or marked by pleasure, satisfaction, or joy. 2. Characterized by a spontaneous or obsessive inclination to use something. Often used in combination: trigger-happy. 3. Enthusiastic about or involved with to a disproportionate degree. Often used in combination: money-happy; clothes-happy.

boss n. 1. An employer or a supervisor. One who makes decisions or exercises authority. A professional politician who controls a party or a political machine. 2. A cow or calf. 3. A circular protuberance or knoblike swelling. A protuberant part.

day n. 1. The period of light between dawn and nightfall; the interval from sunrise to sunset. 2. The 24-hour period during which the earth completes one rotation on its axis. 3. One of the numbered 24-hour periods into which a week, month, or year is divided.

I hope you get the picture. So…. Happy Boss’s Day to all you protuberant parts with corner offices out there! Have a slice of cake . . .

Have a slice of cake!

Have you hugged your secretary today? I hope not! There is, after all, Title VII to think about! But in lieu of that, here are some bosses to look at while you’re eating your cake and adjusting your party hat . . .
