Ron H. set my thinking straight with a virtual slap upside the head. He was responding to Acidman’s post on the shuttle disaster (notice I didn’t say “event” or “situation” as the media has been). Ron had this to say about shuttle flights in general:
Shuttles go 17,000 miles an hour, it’s supposed to be dangerous. If you don’t die, it’s a cool ride.
Well said, Ron. If that doesn’t become a tee shirt or bumpersticker — or a great new slogan for a beleaguered space program, then I really will be speechless.
I guess they knew it was dangerous when they signed up for it. And some people thrive on danger and spills and thrills. Still tragic, though.
